
Shiseido - Makeup Innovation Campaign










SIZZLE REEL // Storyboard
The challenge was to create a 3 minute storyboard direction for a sizzle reel which supports the new Makeup Relaunch Campaign. Using existing brand videos by Sølve Sundsbø, coverage of interactive exhibits from all over the world, and the Shiseido Color Ariststs applying the new collection on models, I organized the storyboard into sections featuring four product categories: Gels, Inks, Powders and Dews. The video opens with shots of cars and people moving fast on Ginza crosswalk in Tokyo. As the camera zooms in, guests are being taken into an interactive exhibit launching the Shiseido makeup line. Each texture category features an emerging artist with a connection to the brand either through her origin or her art. Multimedia artist YiZhou is the face of Gels, singer/songwriter Banks is the face of Inks, ballet dancer Sonoya Mizuno is the face of Powders, and makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto-Bua is the face of Dews. They bring the Shiseido makeup collection to life. Next, in each section a Shiseido Color Artist applies products from one of the categories. Each section ends with a shot of a model with makeup applied. There are also clips of social media posting and press coverage. The sizzle reel ends with camera zooming in on a video screen at the Tokyo launch event. There’s a goop of red gel on the screen that transforms into Camellia (symbol of the Shiseido brand).
